VR is certainly in the heavy exploration phase. Especially considering most people have never experienced it first-hand yet. One of the more compelling/interesting experiences have been around creating “art” (broadly construed). Gestures in 3D space are interesting to a subset of visual (and performance) artists. My wife, a visual artist who does primarily sculpture, is less enthralled, but painters or those that are used to a fairly flat canvas, seem more interested. Quill is Oculus’ stab at gesture-based art. Looks for a bunch of these types of hardware solutions to hit the market once HMDs finally ship.
