Working through the whole analog/digital conundrum (with a salvo fired back at TEDx), coming up with a conceptual model is a challenge. I talked about VAPOR (Virtual, Augmented, Physical Operational Realities) at a Microsoft event in 2014, but it wasn’t quite right (though interesting that another talk was about business models vaporizing – going to the cloud).

The chemist in me started playing with the idea of emulsions – essentially two liquid phases that don’t mix (can’t form a homogenous solution). And that actually is the perfect conceptual model for analog and digital. Maybe this will stick…
