Skip Rizzo’s group at ICT has been working with VR for treating PTS for some time now. He always emphasizes that our systems are not a “doc in a box” – it requires a trained clinician in the loop. Of course digital healthcare is coming, and in fact that’s what we talked about at SxSW last weekend. But we’re a long way from AI being competent to help someone in need, or at least so finds a study on current “intelligent assistants.” When we build digital training systems, our version of the Hippocratic oath is, “no negative training.” We’ll see how that oath plays out with the future digital doctors…
