Invited talk at TBWA\Chiat\Day for their technology and narrative workshop. I closed the day with a talk on breaking time and space as applied to narrative in emulsional worlds. Fun to speak in front of creatives, and then another two hours of follow on discussion about philosophy, anthropology, F1 racing, motorcycles, and other flotsam and jetsam.
emulsional worlds
The first talk specifically on emulsional worlds happens Friday at Chiat/Day. They are having an all-day workshop on narrative and technology (i.e. how will you make ads in VR 😉 and I’m coming in to talk about…well, I guess about emulsional worlds. Making the new deck was a royal PITA as there were about five different through lines I was trying to pursue, and a bunch of other points that need to be made, but they’ll have to come another day.
The short story: immersive isn’t just another screen, it breaks linear narrative, analog and digital can’t really mix – the best you can do is an emulsion, maybe story can be the “emulsifier” that brings analog and digital together.
