S&T Futures
What technologies will the United States Army rely on in the year 2040? Will we maintain our technological edge, or will potential adversaries develop their own “killer apps”? What assumptions are we making about technology that might be wildly wrong? Even more importantly, what technological trends are we ignoring that might come to haunt us over the next 25 years and beyond?
The only thing we can say for certain about the future is that it’s going to be complicated…
The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ASA(ALT)) has sponsored a number of ideation exercises that bring together thought leaders from across the defense, academic, and creative communities in a web-based game exploring how advances in science and technology might transform the nature of the U.S. Army and the world it will operate in over the next 25 years. The goal of this activity is to envision future technologies, explore opportunities, examine risks, and challenge conventional wisdom. Your thoughts and ideas will help Army leaders plan for the future and shape over $2 billion per year in research and development investments.
